WALK THE LAST MILE WITH ME

FOREVER HOMES FOR EVERYONE

It's been a long time since you heard from me, not since our SKINNY COWS CAMPAIGN.
I want to thank everybody who contributed to the welfare of our  25 cows rescued from slaughter
who have thrived since - Thanks to Harmony Fund USA they have been receiving organic food formula with all the vitamins they need on a daily basis and monthly support since May 2013. Harmony Fund has also made funds available to employ two more workers and materials to re-build the cow houses which blew down in two big storms in April.
Thanks to Harmony Fund we also have been able to build a much needed large cow shelter which was much appreciated during this last heavy prolonged rainy season.

We have also managed to fence the whole property so the cows cannot get out in case they get off their ropes.
It is not yet possible to let them run free because some of them clash with each other and in reality they need to be separated into groups and built own compounds. This we do not yet have the funds for.

Fence line is secure around the whole property.

When the heavy rains started, the cows were fat, had roofs over their heads and were contented.
Look at this fat boy!

It was time to focus on clearing out the temporary shelter which was set up in 2009 in a nearby village,
to house the dozens and dozens of cats and dogs which came off Chiang Mai streets during our 4 year animal welfare campaign. A couple hundred were processed with help from the donations we received
every night. In they came, were treated for everything imaginable, dewormed, sterilized and vaccinated,
they quickly went into new homes via the flyers we circulated every night. But finally - I had to stop.
Physically at my age, over 60 - I couldn't take the pace anymore.
There I was painting the town red like there was no tomorrow.
I couldn't walk another mile - and in reality I knew - I still had 10 miles left to fulfill my goal.
My story was featured on Care2 and loving support came from Harmony Fund USA which I'm eternally grateful for because I was on the verge of physical collapse.

THANK YOU HARMONY FUND FOR YOUR LOVING SUPPORT
So it was decided that I should move all our animals to one location as it would be easier for me to maintain.
As the cow shelter is land donated to us this of course should be the permanent shelter. In the past we'd never had any funds for development of this 2 1/2 acre plot, but now Thanks to Harmony Fund we are able to initiate the project. As we have been preparing to close the old shelter, in the last year we have been adopting out and not taking in. In July this year we were down to 21 dogs and 17 cats.
They were not in good condition. In fact I drained our fence account paying for veterinary and hospital bills on 17 emergency cases. The last year since the regular caretaker left I moved someone in there who proved to be incompetent and sadly the animals suffered for it. The lack of devoted animal caretakers is the main reason why I decided to shut down the shelter and adopt the remaining animals myself - yes take them home with me FOREVER.

Hero is blind, Ben is deaf and half blind and Booboo is as old as the hills.
They need me! There's no substitute for love.
No more temporary shelter - we're going home.

Now I just had to work out where home is.
Since 1997 when I moved out of my beautiful home in Chiang Mai
I'd been living with the animals in camp outs around the villages.
All my precious possessions got packed up and put into storage.
My entire pension went into sustaining the camp.
Now it was time to get a real home again and unpack my boxes.
It was time for the animals to come home and never have to leave.
Bruno picked up on the street and cured from Leukemia needs loving care.

After a rough start in life, contentment is what they truly deserve.

As soon as I put my intention out there a perfect place with a brick wall manifested.
I would be able to maintain it myself with my monthly pension but the cow sanctuary would need support.
The greatest set back at this time was the enormous veterinary bills I encountered with sorting out the animals as they arrived at my place. I totally drained the building account and now we are still stuck at the old shelter with 5 buffalo, a wild pig and 4 dogs who were totally traumatized and now bark constantly.
I am not able to bring them home as I would have problems with the neighbors. So I have to build a permanent home for them with the cows.
We need your support to go the last mile.
Moo Moo is still in the hospital. It's been over a month.
After tooth surgery his gums got infected, then it went into his sinuses and eyes.
He is slowly getting better - it will take time as he needs treatments 3 times a day.
The bill is $700 - Funds which we presently don't have.
Donations are most welcome at this crucial time. Please send to animalfund2012@gmail.com

Seven Wonders of the World Movie

Seven Wonders of the World Movie: It's so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle today that we naturally begin to take some of life's most beautiful gifts for granted. I love watching this story unfold through the eyes of a child. It's a reminder that our most priceless possessions were given to us free at birth.

AWAKENING THE WATER

As I write this, Thai's are celebrating their New Year or SONGKRAN
and it always starts with throwing lots of water around.
Do they know something we don't?
If you watch AWAKENING THE WATER
you will discover some amazing facts about nature which could change your life.

Ironically in the village where we shelter the cows,
we are going through a drought. The local reservoir has dried up.
200 people and our shelter is without the Source of Life!
First completely for 3 days, now it comes on and off in spits and spurts
as they are excavating deeper and deeper into Earth's belly.
No Water Festival Here!

Luckily we have this water hole further up on our land.
So when the water doesn't come through the pipes from the village
we can pull buckets out of here to water the cows below.

However, can you imagine how hard work that is.
25 cows - it's a 24 hour job!
Just one cow needs a bath tub full of water every day.
And who knows what looms in the water hole since the villagers sometimes trespass.

We need a WATER TANK! It's impossible to survive without clean water.

We will also need water for the other 50 animals
who must be moved here within the next 3 months.
After 21 years of rescuing abused and abandoned animals in rural Thailand
LOVE ANIMAL HOUSE deserves a home of its own.

Focus must be on education and providing a facility which 'walks its talk'.
After 19 years of private sponsorship from the Founder's family and close friends

Since then it has come in spits and spurts and we'd had to haul it in with buckets.....
okay, almost kidding.......

No Bull - It's All About Cows!

At Love Animal House we have 25 cows and 5 buffalo saved from slaughter.
They were so lucky to have escaped becoming hamburgers.
Being born to be killed is a very scary experience.

Baby Buff with her son Benz - one day old.

Baby Buff escaped from the slaughterhouse and was gunned down, but miracles
do happen. Read her amazing story here: Baby Buff Escapes Death

Baby Buff is not the only one who values her life.
Cows try to escape every chance they get.
Yvonne the runaway cow became a newspaper sensation
when she kept eluding her captors until finally she gained her freedom:
Yvonne the German Cow

It's not easy being a cow. First you get de-horned so you're considered 'safe'.
This is so painful, it's like sticking hot coal in an open wound and leaving it there.
Or gorging your brain out with a blunt knife.
And no painkillers for a throbbing headache that lasts for weeks.
To help stop this cruel practice, please SIGN HERE

Cows everywhere try to escape because they know it comes to no good end.
People who handle them are not kind. They will often try to escape at great risk
to themselves. All they can think about is to get away.
Just like this girl: Plunge Into Icy Pool

Kayli, a cow that lives at Farm Sanctuary made a dramatic escape and now
she's a celebrity on YouTube with her own song:
Kayli's Song

Being a dairy cow is even worse. As well as being de-horned, they cut their tails
off without pain killers. This is so it's easier to milk them.
To get the milk, they take away the calves, they cry and cry.

The boys get killed immediately by being hit on the head with a hammer or end up
in a veal crate deprived of mother's milk or contact with other calves until they too
are butchered a few weeks old.

Bumble Bee who lives at Love Animal House with her new born son Basil.
BLISS!

Cows milk is meant for baby calves, not humans. Many illnesses come from
drinking cows milk such as for example; obesity, sinus problems,
digestive problems and allergies. Unbelievably now they are cloning cows
with bigger udders making it very difficult for them to even walk.
Yes this is how we treat cows.
No wonder they are always looking for a way out of this slavery.

However now, thanks to the internet, the truth is coming out and people
are shocked to discover how humans treat cows.
Most people never have contact with them,
yet they are constantly referred to in our daily language.
What a Lot of Bull!

Cows are unique animals who deserve our attention.
Cool Facts About Cows

Cows have feelings just like your pet dog and don't deserve to live
and die the way they do by the millions every day.

DANCING COWS

Cows love their families as we've discovered at Love Animal House.
Cows Get Stressed Without Friends

Cows even love classical music, it's called the MOOZART EFFECT

Cows deserve compassion. COWS ARE CUTE

This is what MOTHER NATURE has to say about all this.

Why Save Cows?

Humans do not have monopoly on Love. All living beings feel love for their young.
What moral right do we have to take a baby away from its mother?

Many people may ask; what is the point in saving cows?
You can't save them all.
Billions are slaughtered each year!

The point here is; Should they be?
It doesn't seem to be doing our bodies any good.

Nor the planet. Did you know that a 100 gram hamburger equals 4 sq. km of forest?
The Amazon is being felled to extinction to raise beef for hamburgers.
                                                                We are not amused!

In fact, bringing cattle to slaughter so that we may supply our bodies with protein
is bad economics! Not only is it destroying the planet, it also plays havoc with our health.
With the information available to us today, you could even say it is politically incorrect to eat meat.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel says it makes no sense to keep eating food that obviously makes us unhealthy and creates enormous medical bills for the government. If everyone actually ate food that was good for the human system there would be no need for health insurance. Our food is either our medicine
or our poison, depending on how aware we are about what we eat.
Meat is pumped full of antibiotics and preservatives which cause a host of health problems including toxic stomach, brain and blood parasites, which eventually destroy immune systems and cause enormous stress
on our internal organs and nerve systems.
Everything in this universe is energy. Meat holds the vibrational frequency of suffering, fear, terror and death.
Is this what you wish to resonate for yourself and your loved ones?

Cows can save the planet! Yes, it's true. This is no 'pie in the sky' but actual fact.
How to green the world's deserts and reverse climate change:

Cows in Thailand wander around all over the place. Perhaps that's why the landscape is so lush.

                                                              COW DUNG AWARD
Two students win Top Science Prize for turning fermented cow dung into air freshener.

Carnivorism is Specism!
Although racism still exists most educated people agree its a thing of the past,
yet - we still haven't recognised, that we're still doing it.
As humans we think we're superior to other lifeforms and that some beings are more inferior than others.
WHY WE LOVE DOGS, EAT PIGS AND WEAR COWS

                                                        Why does this look disturbing?
Why is it okay to eat some animals and not others?
Does this little lamb look delicious or adorable?

Why would you rather eat this than a dog or a cat?
(Don't answer this if you're Chinese or Korean)

That's right - if you really want to run with the bulls, try being one of them
and see how much fun it is.

Walking with my beloved cows.
Although there was a time when my sanity was questioned for keeping cows because they were given to me by devout Buddhists who wanted to save their lives, I now can say FINALLY - it is those who do not keep a cow who should be questioned, as they are worth their weight in gold.
Every house should have a cow - it is the way to self sufficiency and freedom from hunger.
Although presently our 25 cows are costing us a fortune
once we have re-built our animal shelter on our own 3 acre land
as well as fertilizer, the cow dung can be turned into GAS - then electricity, which in turn can run the generators to pump rain water to the vegetable gardens - peanuts, fruit trees, bananas, corn and
grasses,
which will not only feed the cows, but supply food for the other animals and humans as well.
The cows will turn into a great investment in the sanctuary's future.
Cows = Free Energy
Your donation, however small becomes a seed which turns into a mighty tree.

KID POWER + COW POWER = MAGIC MOMENTS

YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS MAKE SOAP and CREATE COW FOOD!

Prem Tinsulanonda International School grade 4 students visit Love Animal House
cow shelter to donate profits made from selling products they made themselves
at their Car Boot Sale Market recently.
Their teachers Mary MacLachan & Courtney Harden must be so proud of them!
With their donation they will feed Beauty - our grandmother cow, protein pellets
for 7 weeks! No small feat for a bunch of 9-10 year old's.

Kid Power

Dutch cowboy Rene Wuite came to motivate the kids into:
COW POWER

Wow...this cow poo business is serious stuff!

You mean we can actually make things out of their poo?

Basil our 'baby' bull gets framed by two beautiful girls!

Wim 'the cow whisperer' explains;
The only thing you can't do with the poo, is step in it!

Hey come up here and check out this guy's horns!

Wim teaches 'hands on' with Beauty our oldest cow.

See storm damage in background. To help us re-build our shelter go here:

Top Honors to these two for asking the most questions.
'Cow poo' scientists in the making!

Hand to Hoof Community Outreach

Baba waits to see what will happen next. He's never seen so many little 'two legs' before.

Cows - Free Energy Combustion Engines.
This is the end where the magic pops out!

Do cows bite? The answer is;
Not usually, but most people bite into cows.

Proudly presenting 3,600 baht raised by their mutual effort.
Well Done!

Hm... I wonder if dog poo can be used for anything?

Wim our local Dutch cowboy who is always willing to jump in to help the cows when need be.
On March 2nd and 3rd when we had NO STAFF to care for the cows,
he helped Marianne clean up cow poo, water and feed the cows.
This also involved cutting grass for hours, not bad for two over sixties don't you think?

Ria Wuite - Wim's wife loves dancing with the cows,
although normally she is 'the cat whisperer".

Going through the steps before the students arrive.
Dutch line dancers came to inspire the kids.
Dancing with cows?  Hey, it's better than roping them in!

Phew! Dancing with cows is HOT HOT HOT!

WE MUST BE THE CHANGE WE WISH TO SEE.
