World Animal Day at CMU

World Animal Day at CMU Art Centre on October 3rd was well organised with 12-15 organizations set up to help animals in Chiang Mai area. Mainly it was help for dogs, elephants, cats & horses. All of these non-government organizations rely on public support and donations. All are doing a great job, but it's never enough. People continue to dump unwanted pets in temples and accept no responsibilty for what happens to animals that they neglect or abandon.
Therefore it is VITAL that animal welfare is introduced as standard curriculum in schools and universities, also education is needed at local markets and animal trade centres which needs to be addressed by the agriculture department in Bangkok.
Love Animal House is the only organization concerned with rights for all species and offering sanctuary to farm, domestic and wild animals. Continuous cases of animal abuse has lead us to the task of collecting 50,000 members who will be our 'back bone' to petition for various actions to be implimented by the government to help animals towards better lives.

Despite the big turn out of kind people, many of whom where non-Thai and have been working for many years in Chiang Mai helping animals, there was very few Thai attendence except for some of my lovely members who came to support.
The visitors were mainly foreigners living or visiting Chiang Mai.
When I came home, I cried........
I thought my last years campaigning would have raised some awareness but I was wrong.
This is only just the beginning of a long hard rocky road...................................
